The Science
Knowledge is power - How Anagenix can help retain and regrow your hair.
The science behind patterned baldness
Patterned hair loss, also known as androgenic alopecia (AGA), is primarily attributed to genetic and hormonal factors. Whereby, Individuals with a genetic predisposition inherit a sensitivity to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is produced from testosterone through the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme is therefore responsible for the levels of DHT found within your body and hair follicles. DHT then binds to androgen receptors on susceptible hair follicles, leading to a gradual miniaturisation of follicles and a shortened hair growth cycle. This process results in the production of finer, shorter hairs, ultimately leading to the characteristic patterned hair loss observed in both men and women. There are many hair loss products on the market but the mainstay is which they work is through inhibiting this enzyme. In our products we use saw palmetto which has been clinically proven to inhibit 5-alpha reductase and thus prevent DHT build up. We also use a number of other ingredients which contribute to reducing levels of DHT, as well as stimulating scalp vascularisation and detoxification and preventing follicle oxidative stress.
Knowledge is power
At Anagenix we believe that when it comes to understanding your own hair loss, knowledge is power. In recent years the treatments for androgenic alopecia have advanced significantly and there are now four main types of treatment commonly used. 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, topical vasodilators, low level laser therapy and hair transplantation. Anagenix's aim in creating their products was to provide evidence based, clinically proven ingredients which complements all of the above treatments.
